The first day of the season always hits differently. This one was early November, up at Glacier 3000. The crew was Alice, Sampo, François with the camera, and Laurent. The hype had been building the day before — the forecast looked good, fresh snow on the way.

We got up there early, caught the first gondola, and dropped straight into a couple laps of proper powder before the crowds rolled in. First turns of the season, and they were deep.

It was also our first day on the final version of the Recreation. skis, right before release. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick things off. By the afternoon, the place was packed — but we’d already scored. We cruised groomers and hung around until the sun dropped behind the peaks around 3:30. That last light hit golden. We got a few more slashes in before calling it. A solid start to the season. All together, on day one.
